The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card gives you 20,000 bonus miles for spending $1,000 within 3 months of account opening. The average rewards card offers 22,150 points/miles. In addition, you’ll earn 1.25 miles per $1 spent, which is above the market average for a rewards card. So while these rewards aren’t necessarily elite, they’re good enough to make VentureOne a worthwhile option for light-spenders.
VentureOne offers 0% on new purchases for the first 12 months, which is slightly longer than the average 0% card’s 11-month intro period. So that’s pretty good. But it’s certainly no better than hundreds of other cards that offer 0% on purchases for at least as long.
The Capital One VentureOne Credit Card does not charge a balance transfer fee, but it also lacks another important ingredient for an attractive transfer offer: a 0% intro rate. VentureOne gives you 0% only on new purchases, which means any balance you transfer will accrue interest at the card’s regular rate, which has the potential to be quite high. So if you want to reduce the cost of existing debt, skip the VentureOne Card in favor of one of the market’s best balance transfer credit cards.
The Capital One VentureOne card would make more sense as a fair-credit alternative to Venture. However, it’s reserved for people with good or excellent credit. So make sure to check your credit score for free on WalletHub before applying.
